Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if a class will transfer from high school, a community college, and/or another school?
Students are encouraged to visit www.registrar.vt.edu and reference the Transfer Equivalency Database to look up classes taken elsewhere. Once a student does this, we ask that he/she meet with his/her advisor for review. The university has final approval.

Outstanding students in the Building Construction Program may qualify for scholarships and fellowships. Scholarships are given based on merit and/or financial need. Other funds are available through the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid at Virginia Tech.

How do I know if and when I'm graduating?
A student must apply for a degree on HOKIESPA by his/her junior year. Once this is complete, a student can run a Degree Audit Report or (DARS) through HOKIESPA to see exactly what classes are lacking completion for his/her degree.
How do I fix my DARS if there are things that are not correct?

How do I take a class at another school and ensure it will transfer?
A student is welcome to take classes at other institutions as long as he/she follows the criteria set out on the Take Courses Elsewhere form. This form can be found in the BC department and must be signed by an advisor for approval by the department and the college dean. A student should first look up the other college and the class by visiting www.registrar.vt.edu/tranguide to ensure that the class is transferable.
