BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 7, 2014 – Virginia Tech researchers and students conducted a survey of Virginia residential real estate appraisers to analyze the patterns of fees earned in 2013. Prior to the release of this report, no data existed that defined “customary and reasonable” residential real estate appraisal fees in Virginia. This report is the third report of its type to be conducted in the United States, and the first in Virginia.

Kevin Boyle named to EPA advisory committee

Kevin Boyle, Myers-Lawson School of Construction principal faculty member, and the Director of the Program in Real Estate, was recently named to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board's Economics Advisory Committee by Adminstrator Gina McCarthy.

Boyle will serve a three-year term. In his capacity as a committee member, Boyle will be part of a team that reviews policies at the federal level to ensure that cost and benefits analyses are computed correctly.

Dr. de la Garza was the ninth recipient of the Richard L. Tucker Leadership and Service Award. His participation on CII research teams and activities for nearly three decades made him a model of service both to CII and the Industry. In addition to this esteemed honor, Dr. de la Garza also was awarded as Outstanding CII Instructor for 2013 in recognition for his contributions to engineering, to teaching and to the industry.
