Occupational & Construction Hazard Reduction Engineering Lab

Prof. Deb Young-Corbett has been establishing a research program in the three technical domains of her expertise. As an industrial hygienist, she is emphasizing control of health hazards arising from the built environment or inherent to construction processes. As an industrial engineer, she is interested in examining the application of industrial and systems engineering methods to the improvement of construction processes. The topics describe projects that Dr. Young-Corbett has been developing in these realms.

  • Indoor Environmental Quality
  • Confined Space Health and Safety
  • Design of tools
  • Design of sensors - pervasive or wearable
  • Worker Respiratory Symptoms
  • Worker Exposure to Particulates and Chemicals During Construction Operations
  • Office Lighting and Noise and Occupant Productivity/Perception
  • Sustainable Building Asset Maintenance and Management
